Recently I was reading about a meeting between authors and friends John Ortberg and Dallas Willard. It went something like this:
John Ortberg went to a friend (Dallas) because he was spiritually dry. He ran through all that was going on at church, at work, and how many sports his kids were involved in. The list went on and on. He then paused and asked, “What do I need to do to be spiritually healthy?”
“You must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life.” said Dallas.
“What else?” John had his pen and note pad ready.
Another long pause
“There is nothing else. You must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life.” said Dallas. (The Peace God Promises, Ann Spangler, 133)
I don’t know if you need to heed that advice, but I do.
