Forgotten Blessings

By in

I’ve always heard it said “you don’t appreciate what you have until it’s gone.” I’ve been relearning this lately.  A while back I had my kids watch the videos of a Christian motivational speaker named Nick who was born with no arms and no legs.  The next night at dinner I had Joe (our 15 year old) say the prayer.  He said in the prayer something he’s never said before “Thanks God that I have arms and legs.”  Seeing someone who didn’t got him thinking about how blessed he was.   This lesson hit me again this morning when I took a hot shower.  We’ve had no hot water for several days and finally last night we got it taken care of.  Let me tell you that our water has that artic feel to it when not heated, my recent showers have been quick and memorable.  But this morning in my prayer time I thanked God for hot water, I don’t know that I’ve ever done that.  Today, look around at all that you have in your life and never think about.  I encourage you to say thanks for some “taken for granted blessings.”

Under His Mercy,
