Grief

A while back I went and saw the movie “Courageous” with two of my sons and a group of men from the church.  It was a great movie with a challenging message; I encourage all men to go see it.  One of my favorite lines was when one of the men lost his daughter.  He was talking about how he was dealing with his grief.  He said, “I can appreciate the time I had with her or I can be angry about the time I didn’t have with her.”  I thought this was profound.  I have never lost a child and do not claim to know what is most helpful during such a personal tragedy; however, I do think the concept expressed in this quote is beneficial.  The Bible tells us that our lives here are like a vapor; we never know how long we have.  Let’s all remember that not even today is guaranteed and appreciate those God has placed in our lives right now.

Note:  The quote from “Courageous” is to the best of my memory.  Hopefully I got it completely correct.
