. . . What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (James 4:14) Just this week a woman in our church (who I considered young and healthy) passed away unexpectedly. It’s always so shocking when this happens. But the Bible is always realistic; our physical life is short. I love the visual aid of a long rope with a few inches covered in duct tape. The taped section represents our earthly physical life, the rest of the rope symbolizes our eternity. It is vital that we focus on the bulk of our existence, our eternity. When we focus on trying to be happy and comfortable in our short earthly existence we often act selfishishly and usually sin. But when we take a long view with eternity in mind it changes everything. It changes how we handle our time, our relationships and even our money. Life is not about me, but about bringing honor to God the Father. This is our goal and our legacy. My sympathies to Lynn’s friends and family.
