B. Joseph Pine II once said, “The experience of being understood, versus interpreted, is so compelling, you can charge admission.” How often do you actually feel heard? How often do you give that gift to others? There is a reason the Scripture teaches, “. . . Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak. . .” (James 1:19). How many misunderstandings could be avoided and how many conflicts lessened if people actually listened? Today as you talk to people try to listen to what they are saying don’t just focus on your next response. Listening is a precious gift, I encourage you to offer it to people often.
