Listening?

A couple days ago we picked up our foster son at the day care.  He had managed to wedge a small rock in his ear.  This bothered him immensely and after our failed attempts to remove it we went to the doctor who successfully got it out.   Sticking a rock in one’s ear is such a three year old thing, or is it?  Do we adults sometimes “plug our ears?”  I think so.  The young adult who grew up in Church but wants to have sex outside of marriage.  The middle aged adult who still “isn’t financially able” to tithe to God’s kingdom.  Or what about the wife who isn’t “happy” in her marriage and wants a divorce.  Do we listen to God when His commands go against our wants and desires?  Today, maybe it’s time to clean out those ears.
