Loved

The other day I was sittng at a desk with my three year old Henry on my lap.  He grabbed a post-it note and was playing with it.  I got a pen and wrote “I love Henry” and we posted it.  I asked what he wanted to write and he said “write I like Henry.”  So I wrote that.  Then I asked again for another post-it note, this time he said “write Henry loves Henry.”    I found this interesting.  Like Henry, most of us don’t have any trouble loving ourselves; the real challenge is loving others.  There is a movement in the Christian life from self centered to other centered and ultimately to being a God centered person.  When asked what the greatest commandment was, in essence Jesus said, “Love God and Love others.”  Even after decades in the Christian faith I’m still learning to live my life for an audience of One–God Himself.  Learning to love God first and foremost lies at the heart of our faith.  How are you showing God love today?
