Shaken

Have you ever shaken out a rug?  You can shake out a rug right after vacuuming it and dirt will still come out.  Why is that?  Well, it’s obvious some dirt is down deep and requires more effort to remove.  What is true of this simple cleaning technique is true of our lives as well.  Sometimes we can deal with sins fairly easily.  The regular vacuuming of our personal confession/communion time at church will do the trick.  But some sins are deeply woven into our lives and character.  Some sins are deeply ingrained habits and it takes more to get rid of.  Sometimes with these habits or addictions God has to shake us to do some deep cleaning.  Right now are you disoriented because you feel shaken?  Right now are your circumstances or finances in chaos?  Sometimes that feeling is just God doing his cleansing work in our lives.  If a rug could feel wouldn’t it feel disoriented when the master of the house pulled him up, took him outside his comfortable room and began to shake him?  God shaking us is not abuse or anger but care and concern.
