The Missing Link

By in

As a minister I consider myself to be in the change business.  One of my goals is to see people become all that God desires them to be.  And yet after years of ministry why do I see so many people who are simply stuck?  I have met a few people who claim to be Christians who haven’t grown significantly in years.  What’s the missing link in the chain of real life change?  I know many people that have changed dramatically through the power of Christ, but why no change for so many others?  There are probably as many answers as there are people but let me mention a common one.  The missing link is (drum roll please) –accountability.   Let me give one personal example.  I have gotten pretty heavy over the last six years of working two jobs (one being the midnight shift).  I have tried several times to lose weight but failed.  But this time I’ve lost 55-60 pounds which is quite significant.  What made the difference?  I had a fitness coach call me every couple weeks to see how I was doing.  It’s amazing how motivating it is to eat right and exercise when you know someone is going to actually ask you very specific, direct questions on a regular basis.  So what major change do you want to make in your life?  Maybe it’s time to invite someone to walk with you towards that goal.

Under His Mercy,

Derek Dickinson, Minister
