Do everything without complaining or arguing. Philippians 2:14
It amazes me how easy it is to find something to complain about. Many Americans who live in a free and prosperous country still manage to find quite a bit to fuel their grumbling. When I look at my life I can count my blessings–beautiful wife, delightful children, good health, and a job I love to name a few. Or I can choose to focus on the fact that I’m overweight, in debt and blind as a bat (without my contacts). Contentment is all a matter of perspective. I had to chuckle the other day when I was on my morning walk and spotted a smiling, heavy set woman wearing a tee shirt that said, “Fat people are hard to kidnap.” I’m very aware of the fact that being overweight can cause low self esteem, and some health problems. I have to admit I’d never considered the benefit this woman brought to my attention. Apparently there is always an upside!
