A.W. Tozer once said: “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us . . .Were we able to extract from any man a complete answer to the question, ‘What comes into your mind when you think about God? we might predict with certainty the spiritual future of that man.” (Sun Stand Still, Steven Furtick, 93)
So what comes to mind when you think about God? Do you think of the miraculous God of the Bible? The God who created everything by simply speaking, the God who rescued Israel from slavery through 10 plagues and finally parted the Red Sea to save them. In one sentence I have conveyed that God is the Creator, compassionate, powerful and a rescuer. This is just a thumb nail description. But if a person believes just this won’t they be drawn to Him, want to pray to Him and seek Him in times of need. If we were to continue to what the ministry, death and resurrection of Christ teach us we become unstoppable in our mission to share the good news of God. Many problems in our life are corrected if we just properly adjust our view of God. Today it is fashionable (particularly in the recovery community) to see God as simply a vague higher power. The idea of a higher power is helpful but ultimately unsatisfying. I encourage you to place your trust in the one true God as He is described in the Bible.
