Walls and Bridges

By in

“Pride builds walls between people; humility builds bridges.”  Rick Warren

Think about a difficult relationship in your life.  Isn’t pride somehow involved in the conflict and tension?  But humility completely opens us for relationships.  It allows you to be vulnerable.  It allows others to come close because the person who is secure enough to be humble is enjoyable to be around.  They aren’t concerned about turf or their reputation but about the other person.  Not everyone can be funny, brilliant or the life of the party.  But everyone of us can be humble.  Everyone of us can be geniunely concerned about others.  The Scripture tells us God opposes the proud and exalts the humble.  Take the risk, be humble; I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
